One material, many extreme environments

Reentry is the proving ground, but the same low-conductivity, high-temperature, machinable foam serves anywhere heat has to be managed or insulated.

Reusable thermal-protection tiles

Non-ablative hot-face tiles and stiff insulating cores for crew and cargo vehicles. X-FOAM™ survives 1000°C-per-second shock with zero shedding, holds machined shapes for overlap and gap-filler concepts, and refurbishes faster thanks to its same-material waterproof skin.

  • Whole-tile, core/backer, and backside-insulation roles
  • 1300°C baseline in air, 1650°C+ extreme variants
  • Targeting ~$700/ft² at scale vs. $1,500–3,000 for FRCI-12

Vacuum-stable thermal isolation

Thermal isolation around sensors, avionics, and other protected hardware. X-FOAM passed ASTM E595 vacuum outgassing with no solvents to volatilize, so it can sit close to sensitive equipment without contaminating it.

  • ASTM E595 vacuum outgassing: Pass, 0.01% TML
  • Machinable to final shape after firing
  • Density tunable 0.13–0.35 g/cc for the role

Where to slot X-FOAM first

Highest-value places to evaluate the material in a thermal-protection system.

01

Entire tile

Monolithic non-ablative TPS where reusability and handling matter.

02

Tile core / backer

Lower-k backing layer or stiff insulating core behind hot-face systems.

03

Shoulder / backside

Secondary TPS zones, base heat shield, and complex interfaces.

04

Sensor / avionics isolation

Vacuum-stable thermal isolation around protected hardware.
